Project #1

Call Center

Using VoIP technology to keep costs down. Developed a conversational based script to purchase scrap (used) commercial batteries for lead-recycling from companies in Ontario. Discovered valuable information such as true market value of product, as well as who and how companies were dealing with their scrap. Coordinated pickup and payment with the Mississauga office when a purchase was agreed upon.

Project #2

Supply Chain

After my experience in supply chain came to light, we were asked by the owner to build the sister company’s supply chain operation.

For years the suppliers had bundled the product with providing their own logistics services. We were assigned to build the supply chain from our factories in Asia to the warehouses across Canada, in such a way that saved the sister-company versus how they were . Constantly vetting and negotiating freight with shipping lines, fortifying communication lanes with the factory, working with shipping agents in Asia, customs in Canada, and the Branch Managers receiving the containers.

The more we built out the system for the supply chain operation, the more holes we found in the company from an operations standpoint.

For example, I identified a need for a system to create transparency across key stakeholders in the organization, to have a window into the supply chain operations. After evaluating options such as bringing in a new software, or updating our ERP capabilities, both of which were expensive. What followed was the design and implementation of a weekly updated spreadsheet on a shared drive across the company where containers could be tracked.
